EarthScope’s Academy for Science & Communications “ASC” was featured in National Geographic as one of the country’s best high school education programs. It is one of the few stand alone education programs for High School youth that is eligible for college credit in science.
Earthscope’ s Academy for Sustainability & Communications “ASC” advances the principle that education can change lives and change the world.  “ASC” has served youth from the San Francisco Bay Area for over fifteen years.
Earthscope’s ASC provides valuable academic and career training in science, sustainability, health, media and communications that prepares youth for 21st century careers. Youth (15-20 years) delve deep into topics of importance for our society, interview community and national leaders, and learn all the skills of a radio journalist. Earthscope radio stories are aired by our long term media partner – KALW out of San Francisco to thousands of listeners in the Bay area.
Earthscope’s ASC has provided free education vocational training to over 2,000 youth in the bay area in  science, health, sustainability, biotechnology and the environment. Youth gain the soft and hard skills and experience necessary to land jobs with employers that require communications experience, science and technical “know how”.
Every student leaves our program with essential work/life skills such as active listening, critical thinking, collaboration, project management, creative problem solving and communicating to a large audience.  In addition, they gain familiarity with state of the art equipment; digital sound editing, and communication channels.
